“Remind yourself of the big picture when things get tough.”
What do you do and what led you to this career?
I’m an aspiring photographer in my spare time. I’m running @hypechasers with a partner. I really love product photography especially sports apparel. During the day I manage a team of developers for a financial technology company called USAePay.
What is the name and age of your kids?
My oldest is Diego who is 4 and my youngest is a baby girl named Rio who is 5 months.
What is the most rewarding aspect of being a father?
Giving my children experiences that I always yearned for as a child is extremely rewarding. I try to give them the best life possible but also teach them to appreciate it.
And what is the most challenging?
Patience is always on short supply. It’s hard to live in the moment of tantrums and cry-fests but I remind myself the big picture is awesome.
What has been your greatest career achievement thus far?
Watching my current company, USAePay, grow to a 70 person company. I’ve been there since 2006 and we are just on a whole different level now. On the creative side, photographing some streetwear industry titans has been exciting.
What is your best advice for someone new to your industry?
Just show up to things you’re invited to and create something. Failing is really great for you so get it out of the way sooner than later.
What is your best advice for a new dad?
Remind yourself of the big picture when things get tough. Take more photos than you want. Looking back at them is priceless. And don’t stress the milestones just enjoy every phase.
What is your current favorite activity with your kids?
My favorite activity is going shopping with my 4 year old son. He’s learning how to read and write. The grocery store has lots of signs and numbers that he loves to read out-loud. Being able to read has opened a new world for him.
