“Always strive for smarter, better, greater.”

What do you do and what led you to this career?

I’ve been in the online-course space for the last 10 years — consulting and creating for others, as well as selling to my own audience (a company I recently sold). Once I realized there was a growing need for creators to have autonomy from platforms like YouTube and Patreon, I co-founded Course Concierge, an online-course publishing company. We create online courses for NYT best-selling authors, TED speakers, and social media authorities.

What is the name and age of your kids?

August and Berlin, 2 years.

What is the most rewarding aspect of being a father?

Seeing my kids grow up in such a diverse landscape as LA has been a tremendous gift. And of course, because they are twins it’s fun to see them have camaraderie with each other, knowing they will always have each other.

And what is the most challenging?

Having twins has been logistically very challenging - at any point they can both run in completely opposite directions :) Just being able to be in a public space and coordinate having helpers in the park and anywhere I can’t contain them to a stroller is a real challenge.

What has been your greatest career achievement thus far?

Finally finding the right balance with my boys and work has been something I’ve felt to be a tremendous achievement. I always want to be present when they are with me, so structuring my workday to free me up both physically and mentally is the most important thing. Family is the most important piece of life, and now I’m living such that they are my first priority and my business can run itself when I’m at the playground.

What is your best advice for someone new to your industry?

Find a solid and committed team and work to massage and develop those relationships. There is no way to build a company by yourself and also have a life outside of work. You have to have the yin and yang - pushing and challenging to always strive for smarter, better, greater.

What is your best advice for a new dad?

Fostering a positive and communicative relationship with your co-parent is tremendously important. Not only does it alleviate a lot of the pressure of parenthood, but ensures that your children always have a safe, consistent and loving environment in which to grow up.

What is your current favorite activity with your kids

We are working very hard on building block towers and throwing nerf footballs. Usually August is tossing spirals, while Berlin is ‘fixing’ and engineering a block tower masterpiece. Getting to see their different personalities at work is incredibly cool to see.
